Iranian Missiles Strike Northern Israel, Leaving Death, Fires, and Rubble Behind

Northern Israel was left reeling after a series of Iranian missile strikes struck multiple areas on Saturday night, resulting in at least two confirmed deaths and widespread destruction. The attacks caused panic among residents and placed massive pressure on emergency services responding to fires, building collapses, and injuries.
One of the victims was a young woman in her 20s, killed in the western Galilee town of Tamra. Her death was confirmed by Magen David Adom (MDA), Israel’s national emergency service, early Sunday morning. She was among the first casualties reported as a result of the Iranian offensive.
A separate strike caused the partial collapse of a four-story building in the Northern District. Firefighters rescued four trapped women from the rubble, but tragically, two of them did not survive. The top floor of the building had been significantly damaged, creating a highly unstable and dangerous rescue scene.
Sergeant Yair Elkayim, a Northern District commander, said the damage to the building was severe, calling it a site of "extensive destruction." Rescue operations continued into Sunday morning, as teams combed through debris for any more people who might be buried or injured under the wreckage.
Other locations in the Galilee also saw destruction. One person was pulled from another impacted building in critical condition, and firefighters remained on alert for more strikes. Israel Fire and Rescue Services confirmed ongoing searches for additional impact points near already-damaged zones.
In the Lower Galilee, three firefighting units tackled a blaze that engulfed an agricultural building hit by a missile. Fires also erupted in open fields and residential neighborhoods, adding to the dangers facing both civilians and rescue personnel working to contain the chaos.
Israel’s Fire and Rescue hotline was overwhelmed with reports throughout the night, detailing injuries, destroyed homes, and expanding fires in both coastal and northern districts. The situation remained tense on Sunday, with search and recovery missions continuing and the threat of further escalation lingering in the air.
